A note on expectations while the community is young: this thread may be quiet for a while, and we won't pad it with manufactured activity — every matching post you see here is a real person's search. Quiet and real beats busy and fake; that's the whole platform's bet, applied to this page.

Formatting note for this thread, learned from watching matching threads elsewhere die of friction: keep the short form genuinely short. Five lines is scannable by fifty people; twenty-five lines is skipped by everyone. The full-intro thread exists precisely so this one can stay dense. If your one-liners are hard to write, that's usually the search itself asking for sharpening — 'Seek: technical co-founder' is one line but says nothing; 'Seek: TS/Postgres engineer to own reliability, 20+ hrs/wk' is one line and does the whole job.
Why monthly threads instead of one permanent mega-thread, since someone will ask: permanent matching threads rot — the top comments are two-year-old searches long since resolved, and readers can't tell live from dead. A monthly cycle means everything visible is current by construction, and the archive of past threads becomes a record instead of a graveyard. Same permanence-plus-dating logic as listings: nothing is deleted, everything is timestamped, freshness is legible.

Encouraged, not double-dipping — they're different surfaces. The full thread is your permanent, searchable, linkable search page; the monthly thread is the current-inventory digest people actually scan. Post the short form here with a link to the full thread. What is double-dipping: posting fresh short forms in multiple months without updating anything — the one-per-month rule plus 'edits allowed' exists so persistence looks like persistence, not spam.

The community's accumulated answer, in order: (1) one call to check the basics — commitment, stage, terms ranges — using the other's posted lines as the agenda; (2) if that clears, go straight to proposing the two-week trial project (runbook thread: 'Trial projects beat coffee chats'), not more calls; (3) paper the trial with the one-page agreement; (4) decision on the named date, then the four conversations ('The four conversations to have before you write a line of code together') before any announcement. The whole path is four threads in this category, in sequence — that's by design.
Threads are permanent — locked, not deleted, once resolved. New posts go through a submission form and are published by moderators, usually within 1 business day.
